Religious liberties or deregulation of religion part 1

How every government should run

Regulations can be harmful. That is favorite talking point of many evangelical Republicans. Yet, they fail to see that they are pushing equally  harmful regulations. Regulations that control how a person should live. They love to boast about their loyalty to individual freedom and small government. Yet, they are no different from liberals. Republicans and Democrats simply having different reasons for infringing on your liberty.. A Republican opposes something based on social or religious value. A Democrat will oppose anything in the name of protecting children or political correctness. But, Democrats are at least willing to openly  proclaim their loyalty to big brother. Regulating someone's private life is completely against  the principle of small government.

Religion being promoted by the government actually causes many problems for religious freedom. Just as  a government giving corporate welfare or favors hurts the marketplace.  Firstly, one cannot  have a  representative government that has many different religious groups and equally handle them. Medieval Europe , is a good example of how theocracy has destroyed and divided people.A religious majority can and will oppress a religious minority in a pure theocracy. It makes sense as what if a religious minority  attempts to gain power. They can then attempt to influence their own version of theocracy.  The Jews , for example were often suppressed historically at any hint of  them overcoming their social status.  In the Islamic world , new rising powers would often massacre Jews to instate their power like the 1066 Granada massacre.

Religious liberty means to  stop the idea that one religious majority can oppress another . It allows freedom for all religions to preach their faith equally. It makes religious preaching and conversion happen in a peaceful environment. Western civilization after many years of bloodshed  decided to divide the church and state. There is still some influence of religious thought in law making. Social conservatives want to see tradition values promoted by the government. What they fail to see that forcing people to live a certain way is wrong. It is a form of big government that the ultra right uses to recognize. Everyone has their own social values as such promoting your values on others is foolish. Fortunately, social conservatism is a dying movement and will aggressively lose their followers in the western world.  . The social conservatives in America has been pushed back from calling for the punishment of sodomy for example. Christians fundamentalists in America are pushing for regulation of social vices while Muslims want total prohibition of social misconduct.

Still, both versions of theocracy are harmful and have ill effects on society.. The war of drugs is a perfect example of this. I know that our drug policy is a lot better than Saudi Arabia's policy which executes  people for small amounts of Marijuana. But, better really is an objective term.  In the U.S. , we have spent millions and locked people up for mere poesession.  We have ruined other people's lives and wasted massive amounts of money. But, we don't execute them.  I guess it is better but on very low standards.  Both Christian and Muslim fundamentalists push for insane laws and policies.

Crony Capitalism

Corporatism is not a principle of the free market. Corporatism or corporate  welfare is simply another form  of  socialism that is given to the rich instead of the poor. Every principled free market advocate  should stand against such crony practices.

The first question to ask is why do Corporations try to influence politicians so much? Why are billion dollar businesses begging money from the government? The answer is that competing with another business is extremely difficult. A business could easily get wiped out by a superior product. Blackberry is a good example of this. It used to be  one of the most popular smartphones. But, now it's market share is almost completely lost. A company has to set aside part of their profits to their R&D departments and that can be quite expensive. So, how is it that  a company like Blackberry is still able to be in business? Government employees are one of the few consumers that Blackberry still has.  That's because they weren't allowed to bring and use their own smartphone. This created a monopoly as consumers weren't allowed to use another product. Now,  with   new BYO(bring your own device ) policies Blackberry will lose their monopoly and will have a harder time making a profit.  Another example would be Blockbuster and Netflix. Netflix has completely wiped out Blockbuster and destroyed their profit margins. Imagine a shareholder who had stocks in Blockbuster. A market innovation is the worst nightmare of "evil" capitalists who have stocks in those companies.Corporations have a tougher time holding market share in a free market economy.  Regardless, the consumer always wins in the end with the better products that are introduced from this. Shareholders want stable growth and not having to spend more of a company's profit to create new products.
However, government have made   a policy socialism for the rich and  this has corrupted the markets. Now, corporations are more optimistic about bailouts or welfare given to them. They have lost the energy to innovate and compete. If businesses aren't allowed to fail then they more depend on taxpayers subsidizing them. Now corporations crush new business they don't like with insane regulations. Uber is a perfect example as instead of wanting to compete and embrace new technologies. Corporations prefer to live in dark and ignore the brilliant solutions that the markets provide.

Now a simple solution (in my opinion) would be first to freeze all new regulations. Then , we remove  most current regulations. Then create a regulatory board that basically states which regulations should be followed.  This board will then give a safe product certification and will be a legal defense for them in court. Not having this certification simply means a business has to make a stronger legal defense.  Most business will want to have these certifications as consumers will favor products that only have this certification. And businesses would love to a legal defense to use in court. Of course, this could be a private board but I feel there can be some role of government in marketplace.  I see no need to privatize all functions of the government.

Self-interest is not bad.

People often complain about greedy capitalists and that CEO's only care about their own wealth. But, it's hard not to care about oneself first. It's natural to seek your own self interest.  If, your boss offered you a  raise wouldn't you try to earn it. Even, if you didn't  need the money it wouldn't be wrong to want a raise.  Let's say yous boss decided to cut your salary by 10%. Instantly, you would be furious and so would anyone else. . Even , if they didn't need that extra money. Most people are motivated by a self interest  as it's what gives them value as an employee. Money defines value whether you like it or not. That is how the world works. It's has a agreed upon defined value. Humans like having valuable things. They love to compete and be recognized for their work.

That's why CEOs want higher salaries as money as it is how their   their value to the company is measured and rewarded. CEO is a  position that few people are qualified for. There is heavy competition and experience that is needed to be a CEO. This constant competition causes CEOs to be paid more than their employees. So there really is no valid comparison between CEOs and  a worker salary. Workers unfortunately are  replaceable. Workers require less skills and as such there is more of a supply for workers. This idea that capitalists are evil for seeking their self interest is ridiculous. Everyone should be allowed to have self-interest and be able rise up in economic status.  CEOs are motivated by greed to invest more  money back into their company. The worker is also  motivated by greed to work harder to get a better position. Everyone follows their self interest yet only the merchant is rebuked when he works for his self-interest. Yes, one could argue that more people should be allowed to move up. But, we must remember that a capitalist hierarchy itself is not bad.

Profit is not evil and should not be considered a dirty word. Self-interest is what drives people to work. Profit motivates people to create  a wonderful and wide variety of products. Many products were previously only restricted to the rich. Cars are a perfect example of this. Henry Ford wanted to make a profit and compete with the market. So, in the sense Henry Ford was fulfilling his own self interest. But, this desire for wealth motivated him to create cars that benefited society as whole. This really shows that wealth is not a zero-sum game. Society as a whole can become wealthier. There is no need for any "class struggle".
