Religious liberties or deregulation of religion part 1

How every government should run

Regulations can be harmful. That is favorite talking point of many evangelical Republicans. Yet, they fail to see that they are pushing equally  harmful regulations. Regulations that control how a person should live. They love to boast about their loyalty to individual freedom and small government. Yet, they are no different from liberals. Republicans and Democrats simply having different reasons for infringing on your liberty.. A Republican opposes something based on social or religious value. A Democrat will oppose anything in the name of protecting children or political correctness. But, Democrats are at least willing to openly  proclaim their loyalty to big brother. Regulating someone's private life is completely against  the principle of small government.

Religion being promoted by the government actually causes many problems for religious freedom. Just as  a government giving corporate welfare or favors hurts the marketplace.  Firstly, one cannot  have a  representative government that has many different religious groups and equally handle them. Medieval Europe , is a good example of how theocracy has destroyed and divided people.A religious majority can and will oppress a religious minority in a pure theocracy. It makes sense as what if a religious minority  attempts to gain power. They can then attempt to influence their own version of theocracy.  The Jews , for example were often suppressed historically at any hint of  them overcoming their social status.  In the Islamic world , new rising powers would often massacre Jews to instate their power like the 1066 Granada massacre.

Religious liberty means to  stop the idea that one religious majority can oppress another . It allows freedom for all religions to preach their faith equally. It makes religious preaching and conversion happen in a peaceful environment. Western civilization after many years of bloodshed  decided to divide the church and state. There is still some influence of religious thought in law making. Social conservatives want to see tradition values promoted by the government. What they fail to see that forcing people to live a certain way is wrong. It is a form of big government that the ultra right uses to recognize. Everyone has their own social values as such promoting your values on others is foolish. Fortunately, social conservatism is a dying movement and will aggressively lose their followers in the western world.  . The social conservatives in America has been pushed back from calling for the punishment of sodomy for example. Christians fundamentalists in America are pushing for regulation of social vices while Muslims want total prohibition of social misconduct.

Still, both versions of theocracy are harmful and have ill effects on society.. The war of drugs is a perfect example of this. I know that our drug policy is a lot better than Saudi Arabia's policy which executes  people for small amounts of Marijuana. But, better really is an objective term.  In the U.S. , we have spent millions and locked people up for mere poesession.  We have ruined other people's lives and wasted massive amounts of money. But, we don't execute them.  I guess it is better but on very low standards.  Both Christian and Muslim fundamentalists push for insane laws and policies.
